Former Ghanaian international, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, has appealed to Asante Kotoko fans to recognize and appreciate the club's ongoing rebuilding process.
The newly returned coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has signed several young players who will require time to integrate with the few experienced ones in the squad.
In their opening match of the 2023/24 BetPawa Premier League season, Asante Kotoko played to a goalless draw against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Badu, who once represented Kotoko as a player, stated: “First of all, Kotoko we are building, I don’t know if our supporters want to understand it because the kind of pressure Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are having, they will not understand that you are building, so you should bring these young chaps that they will give you two to three years to build a squad that can compete in Africa.
“But the reality is that, is Kotoko is building, looking at the players they have brought on board and the strategy of the coach is, he knows how to nurture young talents to become big players.
“So things maybe a bit rough from the start of the season, it’s a fact.” Agyemang Badu told Radio Gold Sports.
Asante Kotoko is scheduled to visit Dun's Park in Bibiani as they face Gold Stars in matchday 2 on Saturday, September 23.
