Former Hearts of Oak captain, Amankwah Mireku, casts doubt on Asante Kotoko's ability to overcome their historic 4-0 loss as the rivals brace for a showdown.

In March 2000, the Porcupine Warriors suffered their heaviest defeat at the hands of Hearts, a result still cherished by Phobian faithful.

With Kotoko's biggest win over Hearts a distant memory from 1980, Mireku believes the upcoming clash will be a daunting task for Kotoko to rectify such a significant setback.

"Honestly, Asante Kotoko will struggle to avenge the 4-0 defeat. In 2006, they came close to equaling such a heavy defeat in the Super Clash, but I made sure they didn’t succeed," Mireku stated.

"The 4-0 defeat is written on the wall and it will be tough for Kotoko to wipe it off. I think they must think of avenging it in the next world," he added.

As the two giants prepare for their clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, both teams seek victory to propel them up the Ghana Premier League standings.

With Kotoko currently in 10th place and Hearts in 12th, the match takes on added importance in their pursuit of a strong finish to the season.
