Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko have gotten an amount of $100,000 from the Sports Ministry ahead of their 2022/23 CAF Champions League campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors emerged as champions of the GPL last season, reason they are representing the country in the continent's highest club football competition.

The two time African conquerors have been paired with Burkina Faso champions RC Kadiogo in the first preliminary round with the first leg set to come off this weekend.

Sports Minister, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has confirmed this development in an interview with Asempa FM in Accra.

"Kotoko, who are representing us in the CAF Champions League have received GHS1 million from the ministry to support their campaign,” the Hon. Minister told Worlanyo.

"Last season, when Hearts of Oak were participating in Africa, we supported them with GHS1 million."

The Porcupine Warriors left the shores of the country early today by road and have arrived safely in Benin for the epic clash coming up.

The game is scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2022 in Cotonou.
