Asante Kotoko have made club legend Maxwell Konadu their top choice to become the team’s next permanent head coach, Kickgh.com can reveal as Sportsworldghana.com reported.

The Ghana Premier League side have been without a permanent manager since Abdul Karim Zito resigned before last Sunday’s Super Clash against Accra Hearts of Oak. Prince Owusu acted as interim coach for that game, which Kotoko lost 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After the defeat, the club moved quickly to find a new coach as they went into crunch talks with Konadu for a possible quick appointment as Kotoko prepare for the rest of the league season.

Earlier reports linked former Hearts coach Samuel Boadu to the job, but sources say fans and some club officials opposed him because of past comments about Kotoko while he was at their rivals.

Konadu, who has a long history with the club, is now the main candidate. His appointment is expected to be welcomed by supporters as Kotoko aim to steady the team and finish the season strongly.
