Baba Amuda Tahiru, assistant coach of Legon Cities has lamented that luck was a major factor as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Accra Lions.

A heart shattering header from Evans Botchway in the first half left Legon Cities to exit the WAFA Park with a scaly red patch face.

The manner of the defeat to Lions seems difficult to swallow, as the Royals dominated much of the proceedings for the majority of the game but were unable to convert.

After head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin was shown the pecking orders after challenging some of the decisions of the match officials during the match.

Tahiru believes hard luck contributed mainly to their defeat; "Actually my team played how we asked them to but we all saw the hard luck. We had about three to four goals, but we did not make it. In all, both teams played well, tactically. Maybe, one or two things did not go well, that is why we could not equalize and carry the day," said the assistant coach.

"We played last week and we realize that this is our philosophy, although we don't want to put it here. When you are building a team you know these people will start the first half and the ones who will start the second half, but they actually played well," added Amuda Tahiru.

Legon Cities will next welcome Aduana Stars to the El-Wak stadium in their third match of the ongoing 2023/24 season.
