Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Atta insists that, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh is the top player in the Ghana Premier league (GPL) and deserves to pocket at least GHC15,000 as a monthly salary at the club.
Hearts of Oak defended the MTN FA cup last season after failing to finish in the top-four of the GPL.
Afriyie Barnieh scored the winner as Hearts of Oak beat Bechem United by 2- in a thrilling league cup final at the Baba Yara Stadium
Afriyie Barnieh netted eight times in twenty-six games and finished the season as the club's top scorer in the just finished campaign.
Subsequently, the former U-20 African Cup of Nations winner made his debut for the Black Stars of Ghana in June in the Kirin cup.
The 21-year-old winger has been reported to have courted interest from clubs in Europe.
Richard Atta says his teammate, Afriyie Barnieh, deserves fifteen thousand Ghana cedis paycheck at Hearts of Oak as he admits that he is the best player at the club at the moment.
“Afriyie Barnieh is the top player in the Ghana Premier League," he said on Angel TV.
"He is the most important player at Hearts now and to me, he is worth Ghs15,000 monthly. I think with his level, that’s the least he should be paid."
"We need to retain him at the club,” he insisted.
