Berekum Chelsea are pursuing a move for former Hearts of Oak forward Asamoah Boateng Afriyie as part of efforts to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old is currently a free agent following his departure from Hearts of Oak, where he signed a three-year deal in July 2024 but was released at the end of last season after being deemed surplus to requirements.
Afriyie, who previously played for Legon Cities and Nations FC, has drawn interest from several top-flight clubs, but Berekum Chelsea are understood to be at the front of the queue.
Known for his physicality and goal-scoring ability, Afriyie is viewed as a key addition for Chelsea, who are aiming to improve their offensive output in the upcoming campaign.
Kickgh.com understands that no formal offer has been submitted yet, but negotiations are expected to advance in the coming days.
