Former Great Olympics and Karela United coach Bismark Kobi Mensah is reportedly the frontrunner to fill the vacant head coach position at Samartex.
The Timber Giants are in search of a new head coach following the departure of Nurudeen Amadu. Amadu, who was appointed in July 2023, guided the club to its historic Ghana Premier League title last season.
Reports indicate that Samartex has initiated contact with Kobi Mensah, who previously managed Bechem United. The club believes his experience could be instrumental in turning their season around.
Samartex has struggled in the ongoing campaign, recording four wins, five draws, and four losses after 13 matches. They are currently 10th on the league table with 17 points and have suffered three consecutive defeats in the league. Adding to their woes, they were eliminated from the FA Cup after a 2-0 loss to regional rivals Bibiani Goldstars SC.
Assistant coach Henry Wellington will oversee Samartex’s next match, a challenging away fixture against in-form Bechem United on Saturday, December 21, in Week 14 of the Ghana Premier League.
