General manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Samuel Opoku Nti has been told by the board of directors of the club that he would not continue to manage the Porcupines after 30th June 2016.

The board took the decision at the same time that it finally reach an agreement to part company with coach David Duncan famously asked to step aside by the Opoku Nti-led management following a premier league defeat at Aduana Stars back in April.

The source has sighted a copy of the letter handed to the general manager dated 21st June 2016 and that Mr.Nti is asked to prepare his handover notes to be given to the board on 2nd July 2016. He is further ordered by the letter not to sign any new player or engage any other party in any partnership of whatsoever.

The board has also proposed for the general manager to continue to oversee the activities of the club in the second round of the 2016 Ghana premier league which starts this weekend with Kotoko traveling to Techiman City and that he should communicate back to the board his decision regarding that proposal.

Nti , a great footballer during his playing days at Kotoko has risen through the ranks from being a player, to an interim coach, then a close friend of the KK Sarpong administration and finally the general manager or if you like the chief executive officer of the most successful club in the country but his time as has seen the club take several unfortunate decisions and have shown many signs of incompetence in
The lack of blueprint to find success has rocked the club for far too long under the watch of the former footballer turned administrator and with him, many fans of the club have wondered if they have the right man to lead their dear club.

The inability to sustain and renew contracts of inherited club sponsors, the failure to maintain and improve upon inherited property under his watch, the inability to claim the MTN Supporters Mobilization monies due Asante Kotoko, the collapse of the youth teams of the club, the sorry state of the Adako Jachie training facility, the ridiculous player winning bonus structure later reverted, the shambolic organization of the Asante Kotoko 80th annivesary and above all the costly business of sacking coaches Didi Dramani and David Duncan are few of the unfortunate happenings at the club during the time of Mr.Nti.

Bechem United’s Public Relations Officer, Bismark Danso recently alleged Opoku Nti made attempts to bribe them to fix the MTN FA Cup quarter-final clash between the Asante Kotoko and Bechem United in Kumasi in which the Brong-Ahafo club eventually won but Nti has since debunked the report.
