Berekum Chelsea captain Zakaria Fuseini explained why they lost the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title to Samartex.
The Bebires captain, Zakaria Fuseini, believes they did their best despite missing out on the Premier League by slim margins last season to Nurudeen Amadu and his Samartex side.
Chelsea have seen their status rise as one of the top clubs in Ghana - having finished third on the league log. And although they missed out on the title, Fuseini believes it only means they are closer.
In an interview with Koforidua based Bryt FM, the former Black Meteors defender spoke at length about their near miss for the Ghana Premier League title and how it made them feel as a team.
“Our objective was to win the league but it didn’t materialize. At a point, we realized we cannot win the league so we decided as a team to finish in the top-4 and it happened.
“I’m not disappointed about missing out on the Ghana Premier league title. We lost the league title because of our inability to win certain home games. Samartex won the league because they were able to pick more points at home. We lost two games and drew one in the course of the season and I think that cost us the title."
