Former Black Stars coach, CK Akonnor, has offered guidance to Ghanaian football powerhouses, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, urging them to conduct meticulous assessments before signing players.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, Akonnor, who has previously managed both Dreams FC and Ashgold, emphasized the necessity of thorough evaluation and psychological readiness when recruiting new talent.

Highlighting the pressure of playing for revered clubs like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, Akonnor cautioned against assuming that lower-tier league performers would seamlessly transition to the top tier.

"When you are recruiting players, you need to do thorough checks because just because a player is performing well in a lower-tier league doesn't mean they will automatically excel when they join Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko," he told Graphic Sports.

His advice comes amid ongoing scrutiny of recruitment strategies by both clubs, as fans lament the failure of many signed players to meet expectations.
