The Porcupine Warriors have abrogated their contract with the 26-year-old guardsman by mutual consent, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have mutually terminated their contract with Abdul Ganiyu Ismail ahead of the 2022/23 season's campaign.

The decision to part ways with the tough-minded defender comes after writing to the management of Asante Kotoko to cancel the twelve months left on his contract.

Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm that Asante Kotoko's management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah have officially terminated the contract of the former Karela United and Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities) centre-back after a fruitful discussion.

Before the termination, the club announced its decision of stripping off the captaincy from Abdul Ganiyu Ismail for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Midfielder Richard Boadu was named the club's new skipper last week with Ibrahim Danlad, Christopher Nettey and Moise Pouaty as his deputies.

Ganiyu Ismail joined Asante Kotoko in 2018 from Karela United for an undisclosed fee.

His contract with Asante Kotoko was renewed last year until the end of the 2023/24 season.
