The Porcupine Warriors have secured the signature of their long-term target on a free transfer to augment their squad list for next season's campaign.

Ghana Premier League title holders, Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of Ugandan international Steven Mukwala on a two-year deal after a fruitful negotiations, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

The 23-year-old has signed a deal to keep him at the two-time CAF Champions League winners until 2024 after ending his stay at Uganda Rivers Authority FC (URA FC).
 
The prolific striker was heavily linked with a switch to Asante Kotoko in the last two transfer window but the contractual obligations laid by URA FC forced the Ghanaian giants to back out of the negotiations.
 
Kickgh.com can exclusively report that Steven Mukwala has agreed to a two-year deal with the Kumasi-based Premier League outfit subjected to medical examination.
 
Mukwala is expected to arrive in Ghana next month to undergo a mandatory medical test before Asante Kotoko's pre-season tournament in Turkey.
 
Asante Kotoko have acquired the Ugandan and former Azam FC Alain Akono striker as replacements for Cameroonian striker Franck Mbella Etouga Thiery who will be joining Udinese Calcio in Italy this summer.
 
In 2019, Mukwala was loaned at Maroons FC for the new season 2019-2020 where he has scored 13 goals in 22 matches to clinch the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League golden boot award.
 
His speed and power to finish the ball caught the attention of several clubs in 2020 including Asante Kotoko but Uganda Rivers Authority (URA FC) won the race to acquire him on a two-year deal with an option of renewal.
 
He ended the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season as the top scorer of Uganda Rivers Authority (URA FC) after notching fourteen (14) goals in 24 matches.
 
The 23-year-old also notched 13 goals in the recently ended 2021/22 Ugandan Premier League for URA FC, finishing as the club's second top scorer of the season.
 
URA FC have signed George Ssenkaaba from Express FC as a direct replacement for Steven Mukwala who has left the club following the expiration of his contract to join Ghana Premier League heavyweights Asante Kotoko.
 
Mukwala is currently a member of the senior national team of Uganda.
 
Asante Kotoko have been busy on the transfer market aiming for strategic signings for Ghana Premier League title defense next season and an appalling campaign in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
