Past board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Frank Nelson Nwokolo believes Hearts of Oak can still win the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title despite trailing leaders Asante Kotoko by 8 points.
The Phobians managed a 1-1 draw at Bibiani Gold Stars in their last game and were eliminated in the FA Cup by second-tier Golden Kick.
Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has stopped short of claiming incessant victories in their last five matches, going ahead to win one, draw one and lose three.
However, Ouattara will aim to beat Nations FC in Thursday's showdown and use the win to act as a springboard to catch Kotoko in the Premier League title race, but Nelson Nwokolo believes the coach should be supported on all side's which will give Hearts of Oak renewed hope.
"Where we are lying is not best for the club, picking up a point out of three games merely implies we are not serious about winning the league. However, based on the point difference, we can still compete," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
"I believe we should provide the coach with encouragement to keep him motivated. He has a lot of incentive in terms of income, but there are other things we call motivation, such as how the supporters surround him, how they support the players, how he sees the affection they have for the players, and so on.
"All hope is not lost, I feel that we can still win the league. It is not something we should give up hope for because 5-6 points difference is only 2 games if achievable.
"So I believe that Accra Hearts, if Oak still has the possibility to win, but we need to work hard," he added.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak will be back in action this afternoon when they host Nations FC in an outstanding Match-Week 21 clash at the Tuba Astroturf in Kokrobite.
