Nsoatreman FC have advanced to the last eight of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup after defeating Berekum Chelsea on penalty shootouts on Wednesday afternoon.

Coach Maxwell Konadu's side booked themselves a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after stunning their regional rivals 5-4 on penalties in the round of 16 at the Nana Kromansah Park in Nsoatre.

Nsoatreman FC enjoyed majority of the possession in the first department of the game but their upfront failed to make the goal glaring opportunities count.

Abdul Manar Umar combined with Stephen Diyou to launch fearsome attacks on the back line of the visitors but goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere denied them from causing any havoc.

A timely goal-line clearance from Zackaria Fuseini aided Berekum Chelsea from conceding in the 37th minute through a powerful drive from Kwabena Adu Meider.

Berekum Chelsea came close to open the scoring on the stroke of halftime through Emmanuel Sarpong but his strike was fisted off by Dennis Votere.

In the second half, Nsoatreman FC continued their impressive performance but none of their attempts gave them a goal as the fixture was forced into a penalty shootouts.

Nsoatreman FC progressed to the next stage of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup with a 5-4 win on the penalty shootouts when substitute Vincent Klu Adjei missed for Berekum Chelsea.

Nsoatreman FC becomes the second club to book a ticket to this season's MTN FA Cup quarter-final stage after Karela United, who secure a spot with a 2-0 victory over Asante Kotoko on Monday.
