FIFA has taken action against Hearts of Oak by imposing a transfer ban on the club due to their failure to settle an outstanding debt of $14,002 owed to former coach Slavko Matic.

The international football governing body has also directed the Ghana Football Association to enforce this decision at the national level.

The dispute traces back to March 2023 when Serbian coach Slavko Matic was abruptly dismissed by Hearts of Oak. His departure occurred amidst a tense situation, with angry supporters confronting him during a training session.

Following these events, Matic filed a formal complaint with the Ghana Police, expressing concerns for his safety. In response, Hearts of Oak indicated that they could not ensure the coach's security.

In light of these developments, Matic escalated the matter to FIFA, leading to a verdict in July of the same year. FIFA ruled in favor of Matic, instructing Hearts of Oak to compensate their former coach with $14,002 for breaching his contract.

Since Hearts of Oak have not complied with FIFA's directive, the international body has imposed a transfer ban on the club. This ban is already in effect and prevents the club from registering new players until they settle the outstanding debt with Matic.
