Seydou Zerbo, the former head coach of Asante Kotoko, has revealed that he has initiated the process of taking the Ghanaian club to FIFA due to their refusal to settle his three-month salary.
Zerbo was appointed as the head coach of Asante Kotoko after Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum led the team to win the 2021/22 Premier League.
According to Zerbo, the club has failed to fulfill their obligation of paying his outstanding salary after his departure.
In his first interview since leaving the club, Zerbo stated, “I have started the process to drag Kotoko to FIFA in order to get my three months’ salaries. After the Medeama defeat in Kumasi, the CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah came to see me and informed me about the decision to terminate my contract. Indeed it was a sad moment for me but I had to accept it and move on,” Seydou Zerbo told Kumasi-based Fox FM.
He added: “We signed an agreement that I will receive three months’ salary following my contract termination but I haven’t received it as of this time. I have called Nana Yaw Amponsah several times but he does not respond. I have even sent him many messages and the situation is the same and so right now my next step is to gather all the documents and report the club to FIFA.”
Zerbo also mentioned that he has been informed about the appointment of a new board at the club. He hopes that they will settle his salary arrears, but if they fail to do so, he has no choice but to proceed with the FIFA complaint.
Coach Zerbo concluded by saying, “I am told a new board is to be named. I want them to settle me, pay my salary arrears but I have no option than to go to FIFA if they fail,” Coach Zerbo concluded.
