Former Hearts of Oak forward Kwadwo Obeng Junior is on the verge of joining Heart of Lions on a free transfer, marking a significant step in his return to competitive football.

Obeng, who has been without a club since departing Hearts of Oak in January 2024, missed the entire second half of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

However, sources reveal that the 25-year-old striker is now close to finalizing a two-year contract with the Kpando-based club.

The official announcement of Obeng’s signing is expected in the coming days, after which he will join his new teammates in training as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Heart of Lions, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, are banking on Obeng’s experience and goal-scoring ability to strengthen their attacking options and secure a more comfortable position in the league.

Obeng Junior brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously won the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title and two FA Cup trophies with Hearts of Oak.
