Berekum Chelsea’s Chief Executive Officer, Obed Nana Nketia, has been fined GHC 20,000 by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee following a series of misconduct incidents during a Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko.
The match, held at Golden City Park, ended in a 1-1 draw, but the post-game atmosphere was marred by actions involving Nana Nketia. According to the disciplinary committee, Nketia attempted to forcefully enter the match officials’ dressing room with a group of supporters, assaulted a police officer, and incited fans against the security personnel.
The GHC 20,000 fine, payable within 10 days, is part of the GFA's efforts to address what it called “unacceptable behaviour” that endangered the safety of both match officials and security staff. Nketia has also been warned that any further misconduct could lead to more severe penalties.
Nketia’s actions have drawn considerable attention as Berekum Chelsea enjoys a strong league position, currently sitting in fifth place after nine games. The club and Nketia have yet to issue an official response regarding the ruling.
