Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford conceded Hearts of Oak’s superiority after his side suffered another defeat to the Phobians in the GHALCA Top 4, days after also losing to them in the Homowo Cup.
The veteran trainer said Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat came as little surprise given recent meetings between the two sides.
“Losing to Hearts of Oak again is no news,” Hayford said after the match, reflecting on a recurring pattern of results.
The Phobians had already edged Lions to lift the 2025 Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend and again proved decisive in midweek, sealing a winning start to their 2025 GHALCA Top 4 campaign.
Hearts of Oak’s back-to-back victories underline their momentum ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season, while Lions are left searching for answers after another setback against their familiar rivals.
