Two second half goals from Hubert Gyau and Mizack Afriyie were enough for Berekum Chelsea to pick a precious 2-0 win over Medeama SC at the Golden City Park in GPL match-week 27.
Coach Samuel Boadu named a very strong line up heading into the game with captain goalkeeper Obeng Sekyere Gregory in post, Fuseini Zakaria, Stephen Amankona, Mizack Afriyie, Awuah Dramani, all were included.
On the opposition side, Medeama named a line up without Diawusie Taylor and Nurudeen Abdulai but the likes of Felix Kyei, Kofi Asmah, Fatawu Sulemana, Derrick Fordjour, were all maintained
The start was really a humble one with both teams looking very calm and composed with no any dangerous incursions in the opening minutes.
In the second half, the home team returned on a higher note and attacked with so much eagerness this time in a desperate hunt for the opener.
Medeama SC didn't really look dangerous upfront following the malfunctioning of their wings but were very solid and well organized in defence.
Berekum Chelsea opened the scoring account of the game on the 70th minute mark courtesy a cool finish from Hubert Gyau.
Exactly ten minutes later, Mizack Afriyie found the back of the net to double the lead and ended up snatching all three points with a deserved 2-0 victory.
Berekum Chelsea will travel to Legon Cities FC, whiles Medeama SC will host giants Asante Kotoko in Tarkwa in the next round of matches.
