FC Samartex continued their title winning chase with a five-goal thriller win over Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League match-week 26 fixture on Sunday afternoon.
The Timber Giants picked their fifteenth victory of the 2023-24 season after beating Chelsea 3-2 in this afternoon's game at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi.
The home side commenced the game with intense pressure piled on the back line to concede two goals in the first interval.
In-form winger Evans Osei Wusu gave FC Samartex a two-goal lead with a first half brace when he found the back of the net in the 35th and 40th minute.
A minute after the half-hour mark, Stephen Amankona reduced the deficit for Chelsea with a fine strike before Baba Hamadu Musa made it 3-1 for Samartex in the 89th minute of the game.
Amankona popped up again to score his second goal of the day but it wasn't enough to secure Chelsea a point at Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
FC Samartex have cemented their place on top with 46 points while Chelsea drops to seventh position with 38 points after match-week 26 of the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League season.
