Karela United secured a crucial victory in a thrilling encounter against league champions Samartex Nalerigu on Sunday.

The game concluded with a 4-2 scoreline in favor of Karela, significantly boosting their hopes for survival with only one game remaining.

Karela displayed greater determination throughout the match, while Samartex seemed to still be basking in the glory of their historic league victory.

Despite Samartex's recent triumph over Bibiani Gold Stars, Karela took control early on, with Welbeck Takyi scoring in the 26th minute followed by Abdul Latif converting a penalty just before halftime to double their lead.

Although Samartex managed to pull one back through Seidu Abubakar after the break, Takyi's second goal restored Karela's two-goal advantage. Despite another goal from Samartex setting up a tense finale, Solomon Aboagye's late strike secured the win for Karela.

With their survival hanging in the balance, Karela must now avoid defeat in their upcoming match against Medeama in Tarkwa to remain in the league.
