A brace from Hamza Issah in between a goal by Salim Adams helped Hearts of Oak run out 3-1 winners against Karela United at Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday night football.
The victory at Accra Sports Stadium takes Aboubakar Ouattara’s side to the tenth spot, while Karela remain just five points (14th with 30 points) beneath Hearts of Oak, who are eleven points below the summit.
After sharing the spoils (1-1) in the first half, the hosts put on a much better showing in the second period, the visitors got a lifeline at the stroke of time - upping the tally to 3-1 with goals from Salim Adams (63rd minute) and Hamza Issah (90th minute).
Karela, however, squandered a few very presentable chances after scoring the opener in the 3rd minute through young midfielder Humid Dafie and were made to pay for their wastefulness.
Hearts of Oak will return to league action next weekend when they head to Sogakope to face 13th-placed Legon Cities, while Karela will sit at Nalerigu and welcome Accra Lions to the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in match week 27.
