Alidu Mohammed scored the only goal of the match as Legon Cities recorded a 1-0 victory over Bofoakwa Tano at Dawu Park on Saturday afternoon.
The result has seen the Royals move above Bofoakwa into 8th spot with 44 points in the Premier League table, eleven points ahead of the relegation dwelling (17th-placed) ‘Esuo Eyiri Pe Bre’ Boys.
The victory is Cities seventh home win in Ghana’s top flight since the beginning of this year, with their first home win in the year being a 1-0 success over Nations FC at WAFA Park on 14th March, 2024.
Legon Cities came close to an opener in the early exchanges, with a high drive tempo-pressing causing Bofoakwa a problem, but the visitors managed to survive the uncomfortable scare.
Cities managed to make the breakthrough fifteen minutes to the closing moments of the opening half, though, with Alidu Mohammed scoring from a well-curled right foot drive which left Bofoakwa goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi helpless, even after a superb diving to stop the ball.
The ‘Esuo Eyiri Pe Bre’ came close to a leveller on several occasions, with Bofo’s forward line pressing, and looking to pick out the top corner, but their efforts were just wide.
But, however, one goal ultimately proved to be enough for Paa Kwasi Fabin’s side to pick up all three points.
