Mawuli Wayo scored a second-half goal to guide Bibiani Gold Stars to a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Miners held firm for large periods of the contest to frustrate their hosts, who ultimately remained patient in their search of the all-important breakthrough which never happened.
Gold Stars persistence ultimately paid off in the 79th minute when Wayo thumped the ball past Sharif Shuaib to score his first goal of the season.
Hearts of Oak tried snatching the equalizer in the closing stages of the match but the away side remained resolute to hold the Phobian frontline at bay.
While Gold Stars are unbeaten in 5 competitive matches, Hearts of Oak have now failed to win any of their last two league games.
The win moved Gold Stars to the 11th position on 32 points of the Premier League table after the late kickoff, while Hearts of Oak are guaranteed to finish the day in the 10th position with 32 points.
