Samartex FC exhibited a stupendous performance in Sogakope to humble Accra Lions by 1-3 this mid-afternoon in the opening fixture of Ghana Premier League match-day 17.
The Timber Giants started on a good note having taken the lead in just seven minutes from kickoff through Dauda Yusif who made a decent run inside the box to shoot into the bottom left corner.
Accra Lions were still the dominant side in the game in terms of possession but unlocking the visitors defence was really a tedious task for them.
Despite being in front, Samartex FC also opened up the game with possession and also made use of their wings more often in a quest to double their lead.
Finally, they got to do that after Baba Hamadu Musah scored from a close range after heading into the net from Keyekeh's free kick on the 16th minute mark.
In the second half, the Blue-Blacks returned on a blistering note and made lots of attacks in the early stages in search of an early goal to propel them to a possible comeback but all proved futile.
The away side despite being outplayed at some point in the game, remained very resolute in defense as they hope to hold onto their lead to full time to preserve their top-spot.
Accra Lions finally pulled one back on the 80th minute through Abdul Shakun Abubakari.
With few minutes to full time, Samartex FC scored again through Michael Ephson to seal a precious victory for the visiting side.
It ended 1-3 after full time in Sogakope as the Green and Whites open a five points lead at the summit of the league.
