Francis Gyetuah's 37th minute goal was enough for Samartex FC to narrowly defeat champions Medeama SC by 1-0 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex in a highly-anticipated GPL week 24 fixture.
The win is really a huge one for the Timber Giants who have now extended their recent winning streak to two and have currently leapfrogged Nations FC to return to the summit of the league with two points lead.
Baba Musah Hamadu shaked off injury and returned into the line up and helped so much in attack, with goalkeeper Kofi Baah, Evans Osei-Wusu, skipper Emmanuel Keyekeh, all making coach Nurudeen Amadu's list.
On the opposition side, coach Evans Adortey also announced a strong XI with Fatawu Sulemana captaining the side and young goalie Abdul Jabal Adams also in post today.
The first half was a balanced game with both teams all in it but Francis Gyetuah found the back of the net on the 37th minute to hand them the lead after half time.
In the second half, both teams returned on a blistering note and began attack to each other right from onset with different ambitions.
The homesters despite making some goal incursions to put the game to bed, were also very cautious with their defence as they hope to preserve their lead.
However, the Mauves and Yellows really gave them a good run for their money, having attacked from all angles in search of the leveller and really kept the hosts on their toes until full time.
It ended 1-0 for Samartex FC- a precious victory to take them back to the top of the league table
