Asante Kotoko has officially announced the appointment of goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim as the new captain of the club.
This seasoned goalkeeper, who is embarking on his eighth season with the club, previously had the opportunity to don the captain's armband temporarily during the previous season's campaign.
However, following the departure of the former skipper, Richard Boadu, who joined the Libyan club Al Ahly, Danlad Ibrahim, a 2021 AFCON U-20 champion and now a key player for the Black Stars, will now assume the captaincy on a permanent basis.
Georges Mfegue from Cameroon and Richmond Lamptey have been named vice-captains, as per the decision of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Expressing his gratitude, Danlad stated, “It’s a huge honour for me to be named the new club captain," He tells scasantekotoko.com. "I will say it’s a blessing, and I give thanks to the Almighty Allah, to our noble technical staff and head coach, Prosper Ogum, and to our great supporters. "I am very grateful for this, and I promise to serve wholeheartedly like I have always done since I joined [this club].”
Danlad joined the Asante Kotoko family in August 2016 and made his senior debut in 2019. He demonstrated his skills when he stepped in for our former captain, Felix Annan, during the Normalisation Committee's special competition semifinal victory against Hearts of Oak.
Furthermore, he made his league debut during our triumphant 2021-2022 league season against Aduana Stars.
