A 97th-minute penalty scored by Abednego Tetteh helped Bibiani Goldstars extend their unbeaten streak to six games after a five-goal thriller win over Karela United on Wednesday afternoon.

Bibiani Goldstars continued their home dominance over Karela United with a 3-2 victory in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League match-week 25 fixture at Dun's Park.

Karela United commenced the fixture on a good note, with intense pressure on the back line of the home side to concede within the third through a fine strike from Dafie Mohammed.

Coach Frimpong Manso's side regrouped after conceding in the early minutes by gaining possession to snatch the equalizer before the half-hour mark.

Burly striker Prince Owusu Kwabena brilliantly leveled the score for Bibiani Goldstars with a cool finish in the 18th minute of the game.

The remaining minutes of the contest couldn't produce any additional goals as it ended in a one-all draw at Dun's Park.

In the second half, Bibiani Goldstars continued their impressive display to register the second goal through Mawuli Wayo.

Wayo, who scored against Hearts of Oak last weekend, found the back of the net again to hand Bibiani Goldstars a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute.

Six minutes after conceding the second goal, Karela United coach Abubakari Damba made a tactical substitution with the introduction of Abdul Basit, Samuel Atta Kumi, and Hafiz Abdulai as replacements for Solomon Aboagye, Maxwell Agyemang, and Ibrahim Gayisu.

Substitute Samuel Atta Kumi announced his presence in the game when he tapped in Latif Abdul's free kick into the back of the net to make it 2-2 for Karela United in the 81st minute of the game.

Bibiani Goldstars warmed themselves into the game with several fearsome attacks on the defense of Karela United, which resulted in a penalty in stoppage time.

Abednego Tetteh, who rejoined Goldstars in the second round of the season, registered his first goal of the season after electing himself to convert the spot-kick to secure the three maximum points for the host.

Following the victory, Bibiani Goldstars have moved to 8th place with 35 points, while Karela United lies in 14th place with 30 points after 25 matches.
