Hearts of Oak midfielder Glid Otanga Mvouo couldn't hide his joy after his team's impressive win against Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League.
In the match, the Congolese international played a vital role as the Phobians fought back to claim a 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions in the week 22 fixture on Monday. This extended their unbeaten streak to eight games.
The game kicked off with Youngster Mustapha Yakubu scoring for Bashir Hayford's side with a superb free-kick that left goalkeeper Richard Attah helpless from the edge of the box.
However, Hearts didn't back down. After halftime, midfielder Salim Adams found the net, heading in a free-kick delivered by Martin Karikari in the 49th minute, leveling the score.
Reflecting on the win, Mvouo expressed his happiness, saying, “We are thrilled with this win. Even though they scored against us in the first half, we showed our determination to turn the game around. Despite a tough first half, our coach motivated us to give our best in the second half, and we managed to get the victory.”
With their recent performances, Hearts of Oak has become a strong team in the ongoing league, despite a slow start to the season.
Coach Ouattara, who joined the Phobians before the start of the second round, has had an immediate impact, guiding the team to three wins and two draws in five games so far.
The Ghanaian giants have gathered 11 points out of a possible 15 in the second half of the domestic league, pushing them to the 7th position on the league table, tied on points with rivals Asante Kotoko.
