Hearts of Oak will kickstart their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign against newbies Basake Holy Stars this Sunday and will be without defender David Oppong Afrane due to injury.

The 21-year-old joined the Phobians in September last year but didn't really have much playing time last season due to series of injuries that came his way and others.

However, he joined the team's pre-season and was even part of the Togo trip looking fully fit and ready having featured in almost all games they have played recently.

The Black Meteors guardsman reportedly got injured again in their last warm up friendly against Dreams FC in the midweek and it has been confirmed he won't be available for their season opener this weekend.

With players like Michael Awuah Mensah, Konadu Yiadom, Kelvin Osei Asibey and others available, coach Aboubakar Ouattara will definitely have other options to alternate his absence until he returns

The game against Basake Holy Stars is slated for 15:00GMT at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
