Daniel Afriyie Barnieh will likely never pull on a Phobia shirt again, following his “explosive” performance for the Black Stars in a Pre-World Cup friendly against Switzerland on Thursday, according to Head coach of Hearts of Oak Slavko Matic.
Barnieh marked his Black Stars debut against the Red Crosses and shone as Ghana won 2-0. Crashing header from Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo secured the win for Ghana as they geared up for the 2022 World Cup which starts on Sunday, November 20.
Barnieh's display for the Black Stars has led Matic to believe he will not play for the Phobians once the World Cup has concluded.
"I am not expecting Afriyie Barnieh back at Hearts of Oak after the 2022 FIFA World Cup," he said after Hearts of Oak's win over Accra Lions.
Ten-men Hearts of Oak ended the five game unbeaten run of Accra Lions after thrashing them 3-1 in match-day seven of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
