Accra Hearts of Oak have formally expressed their interest in signing Nations FC centre-back Razak Simpson, as the club continues its aggressive recruitment drive ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Sources close to both clubs confirm that official communication has been sent to Nations FC, with Hearts keen to secure the services of the highly-rated defender. Nations FC are expected to respond to Hearts' proposal before Tuesday, setting up what could be one of the standout transfers of the local window.
The Phobians are prepared to meet the necessary conditions to land Simpson, who had a standout campaign in the just-ended season. The 26-year-old centre-back made 21 league appearances for Nations FC, contributing four goals—a remarkable return for a defender.
Simpson’s strong domestic form also earned him a call-up to the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, where he has featured five times. He marked his international debut with a goal in Ghana’s 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago during the Unity Cup in June.
Hearts of Oak, now under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, see Simpson as a key defensive reinforcement as they aim to rebuild a team capable of challenging for titles both locally and on the continent.
If the deal is finalized, Simpson would become one of the marquee signings in what is shaping up to be a transformative transfer window for the former African champions.
