Augustine Agyapong, a defender for Asante Kotoko, has shared his perspective on the challenges of playing for the renowned club.
Having joined Kotoko in 2021 from Delsamaco FC, a Division Two League side, the young defender has been part of the Porcupine Warriors for the past two seasons. Agyapong played a crucial role in Kotoko's triumph in the Ghana Premier League during the 2021/22 season.
In the recently concluded season, the talented defender, who is also a member of the Black Galaxies, made 23 appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists as Kotoko secured a 4th place finish.
During an interview with Kessben FM, Agyapong acknowledged that playing for a club like Kotoko comes with added pressure.
“It’s not easy to wear a Kotoko jersey. It’s not simple so you feel proud in a Kotoko jersey. It’s not easy because every team with a large support base is tough to play for. It’s not that simple. It’s a big and huge club so when you are in there you will understand.”
As a 19-year-old full-back, Agyapong is expected to play a significant role for Kotoko in the upcoming season as the team aims for further success.
