Striker Victor Aidoo has officially announced his departure from Hearts of Oak SC following the expiration of his contract with the club.
Aidoo joined the Phobians in 2020, signing a three-year contract after his time with FC Samartex. However, the club has decided against renewing his deal, making him a free agent.
During his stint with Hearts of Oak, the 24-year-old striker had limited opportunities to showcase his talent and was loaned out to Real Tamale United last season. As a result, Aidoo has decided to seek new challenges elsewhere to continue his development.
“My contract has expired so I have nothing to do with the club again. I lost interest in Hearts of Oak because of how they treated me”
“I was in my final year before the start of the season, so the club engaged me to extend my contract before I leave on loan but I declined and requested for a mutual termination of my contract but it didn’t happen.
“As a result, I was asked to stay home until my contract expires, I agreed and did not take part in the first half of the campaign.”
“But when Matic arrived, I was asked to join for training and I impressed, so I was registered for the second round to finish the six month left on my contract” he said as quoted by Sportsworldghana.com.
Throughout his three-year tenure with the Phobians, Aidoo made 53 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist.
He played a significant role in Hearts of Oak's success, helping them end their 12-year trophy drought by winning the MTN FA Cup and the league title in the 2021/22 season, as well as securing the President's Cup this year.
