Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo has opened up on a part of his life where he got rejected by lots of clubs in England including the three London giants Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 24-year-old joined AFC Bournemouth in January 2023 after an impressive spell at Bristol City but couldn't wrap up the 2022/23 season well due to an injury which kept out for a long time.

However, in the ongoing campaign, the lanky forward has been amazing with series of top-notch performances having netted eight goals and provided two assists in 34 matches in all competitions so far.

His stellar display has made him one of the supporter's favourite at the Vitality Stadium caught the good eyes of the technical study group who even nominated him for the club's prestigious best player award but unfortunately lost it to Dominic Solanke.

Speaking in an interview with SuperSport, Semenyo dug deep into how he was turned down by lots of clubs in England and added the rejection wasn't easy but really built him mentally and made him strong for the challenge at the highest level.

"I think I went to Millwall four times, went to Tottenham, went to Arsenal, went to Chelsea, I went to so many clubs and I just got the same result: never making it. I remember Palace being the last place being rejected."

Being so young I couldn’t cope with the emotions of rejection... I felt like I need to take a break, go back to friends, go back to school just focus and recuperate, give myself a year to calm myself down cause I felt like the rejection was so much."

"That was obviously a tough part of my life but yeah I felt like it built character and the mentality I have now, so I’m grateful."

AFC Bournemouth will travel to Chelsea in the final fixture of the season on Sunday, May 19.
