Police Inspector, B.A Yakubu was reported to have been part of the victims that got attacked by some Berekum Chelsea supporters together with the players and officials of Karela United after their GPL week 12 clash last Tuesday.
The Bibires got back to winning ways with a slim 1-0 triumph over the Pride and Passion outfit at the Golden City Park, thanks to Mezack Afriyie's late goal to extend his lead on the top scoring chat.
The aftermath of the game was that, players and officials of Karela United have been attacked by the home fans including a police officer, with pictures of midfielder Joseph Dinku popping up subsequently with cuts on his arms.
This sparked so much rage among some Ghanaian football fans on social media but the police officer who has allegedly been reported to have been attacked has debunked the reportage, stating nothing like that happened. He explained in an interview on Sports Page 1 on Precise FM in Kumasi;
"It all starting after the first half when some Berekum Chelsea fans wanted to attack the referees for poor officiating and some even told me and my men to allow the
referees to favour Chelsea."
"After the final whistle two players of Karela utd Emmauel Anarfo and Joseph Dinku attacked an assistant referee just in front of me."
"Some officials of Karela utd attacked police constable in the dressing room, and around 8pm last night i had a call and the person said he is the CEO of Karela utd threatening to report me to the IGP."
"It's not true fans of berekum Chelsea attacked Karela utd players I'm saying it on authority." He concluded
