Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side’s defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak was due to missed chances in front of goal.

The Yellow and Mauves faced the Phobians on Sunday in their Matchweek 34 fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak, inspired by Mawuli Wayo’s brace, went on to secure an impressive 4-2 victory over the champions.

After the match, Tanko insisted his team were not outplayed and felt they could have taken more from the game.

“I think it was 50-50. After the first goal, we came back strongly and had all the chances. And then in the second half, the early goal kicked us behind, but still we kept on fighting to the last. They won 4-2, and I congratulate them,” he said.

He added that Medeama must now reflect on their season and improve ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

“After the season, we have to sit down and analyse the whole season and then look at the position we think we need to help us in Africa and the league next season. We are going to do the work,” Tanko said.

Medeama SC have already been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League and will officially receive their trophy after a coronation match against Holy Stars on Wednesday, May 27.
