Asante Kotoko new head coach, Abdul Karim Zito was handed his task over the weekend against Aduana Stars and he set off to a great start after a narrow 1-0 in a tough matchweek 29 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium

The experienced gaffer was named less than a week ago as replacement for Prosper Narteh Ogum - who got jettisoned for poor performance.

The game was really a very difficult one for both sides and was really balanced following the even exchanges but it was Kwame Opoku's goal that conjured the magic and handed the Reds all three points in the end.

Guinean goalkeeper Mohammed Camara was really in the thick of affairs and was the main reason Kotoko won this game having made some descent including saving Sam Adam's penalty in the first half.

Speaking in a post-match interview with Globe TV, the former Dreams FC boss expressed elation after the win and has called on the supporters to come in and support in their subsequent games

"Definitely it was a difficult game. Aduana isn't a bad team, due to the recent moments all the teams thought they can do what they can but we won. So I'm very happy for this game

"We still have opportunities to make amendments and this will motivate us in the rest of our games. We need our supporters, they should always come in numbers, we can do it with them. On behalf of the entire technical team, I say thank you to the supporters."

Asante Kotoko after this remain in fourth place with just three points behind the top following Goldstars' loss to Vision FC

They will face sworn and eternal rivals Hearts of Oak next week in the second Super-Clash of the season
