The Ghana Premier League took off to a flying start over the weekend with some expected and unexpected results. Some newly-promoted clubs made quite number of massive statements going toe-to-toe with their opponents while others repeat the mistakes of those in the past with a poor end result.
Here are some of the stats from the weekend crunch encounters after Matchday 1.

Legon Cities cranky defender Michael Ampadu is the first player to be red carded this season.
First coach to get booked – Samuel Boadu, referee Mohammed Misbau didn’t seesaw to flare the card to the Phobian gaffer when he angrily reacted to a decision from the dugout.
Real Tamale United (RTU) and Samartex are without a win after their 0-0 draw stalemate.
Legon Cities lost for the first time at home in the top-flight since January 3, 2022, after their 1-0 loss to Accra Lions.
Bibiani Gold Stars also lost for the first time at home in the top-flight since June 5, 2022, after their 4-3 loss to now relegated WAFA.
Dreams FC won away for the first time in almost three months, their last away win was a 0-1 win against Berekum Chelsea on June 12, 2022.
We have two games at hand, Monday’s fixture between Berekum Chelsea and King Faisal plus the postponed Kotoko vs Nsoatreman game.
