Former Ghana international and midfield stalwart Daniel Nii Adjei has heaped praise on Asante Kotoko, declaring the club as the foundation of his professional success.

In an emotional reflection on his storied career, the ex-Kotoko captain didn't mince words.

"Asante Kotoko shaped my career. Players are criticized heavily for every defeat and that makes you strong as a player. You always have to fight for the victory."

Nii Adjei, who spent six glorious seasons with the Porcupine Warriors, credits the Kumasi-based giants for giving him the platform to rise from promising local talent to continental champion.

Nii Adjei was a mainstay in Kotoko’s midfield, captaining the side and helping them to three Ghana Premier League titles. His performances earned him a move to TP Mazembe, where he went on to win the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, cementing his legacy as one of Ghana's most decorated midfielders.

Now retired, the veteran is the current assistant coach of Heart of Lions where he helped them to finish second on the league standing — but his heart, he says, will always beat for Kotoko.
