German football legend, Lothar Matthäus has expressed excitement after partnering Ghanaian topflight side Accra Lions and was impressed seeing them whip two-time Ghanaian champions Aduana Stars.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan legend Lothar Herbert Matthäus was named as the new partner of the club and is willing to help improve to the highest level.
The event was attended by various distinguished personalities, including the Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Mustapha Ussif, the German ambassador, His Excellency Daniel Krull, and a leading member of the Ghana Football Association.
In addition, Nii Samuel Adjetey Mohenu, the Chief of Abokobi where the club is based, will grace the event, alongside members of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and I prominent figures from the football industry, both domestically and internationally.
In an interview, the 1990 Player of the Year stated he was impressed with the club's project and is willing to help them improve things with the capital-based side.
"The Accra Lions players are so professional. They’re all very talented from what I saw in training. The facilities were good and I want to ensure we improve it more. Beating Aduana Stars, the best team in Ghana this season, after a rough patch in form is the kind of mentality I like. That’s why I’m here."
