Tamale City’s attempt to end their slump came to nothing as Bibiani Gold Stars punished them to a 3-2 defeat at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Sampson Eduku scored the opener in the 8th minute for Tamale City but the Golden Boys leveled at the death of the first half, thanks to Emmanuel Appau who bang in the much needed equaliser with a powerful strike that left the Tamale City goalkeeper stranded.
Dependable marksman Sampson Eduku scored again in the 54th minute to shoot the Citizens ahead before Gold Stars grabbed, yet, another equaliser in a heart-wrenching fashion, courtesy of Abednego Tetteh, who climbed off the bench in the 64th minute in a bid to help improve the Golden Boys attack as he fired home two goals (74th and 90+7’) minutes after coming on to deny Tamale City a share of the spoils that had earlier looked all but assured.
The defeat is the seventh loss this season for the Citizens who remained in the 17th spot on 11 points while the Golden Boys improved to the 3rd spot on 23 points.
