A second half goal from Mizack Afriyie helped Berekum Chelsea to escape their first home defeat of the season in the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park in Berekum.
Accra Lions extended their unbeaten streak in the ongoing season after holding Chelsea to a 1-1 stalemate in their match-week three game on Friday afternoon.
The Capital based outfit commenced the fixture with an intense pressure on the host to concede within the first quarter of the match through Bernald Kesse.
Kesse brilliantly opened the scoring for Accra Lions after wrestling his way through the defense of Chelsea to slot the ball past goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere in the 10th minute of the game.
Accra Lions continued their impressive performance after snatching the openera with the hopes of getting more goals but the back line of the hosts were resolute to deny them.
Shawkan Mohammed nearly doubled the lead for Accra Lions but his strike was fisted out by Gregory Obeng Sekyere in the 35th minute. Chelsea failed to level the score as it ended a 1-0 lead for the visitors in the first half.
After the break, Coach Christopher Ennin made a tactical switch which aided his side to enjoy majority of the possession with Mizack Afriyie scoring the equalizer.
On the 61st minute, Mizack Afriyie capitalized on Accra Lions' defensive error to restore the parity of the game.
Chelsea came close to snatch the match-winner through Patrick Asiedu in the dying embers of the game but he was denied by the woodwork.
Despite the five-star performance displayed by Chelsea, their efforts in the last ten minutes went futile as it ended in a one-all draw at the Golden City Park in Berekum
