On Saturday afternoon, Aduana Stars moved a step closer to clinching their third Ghana Premier League title by securing a 1-0 victory over Great Olympics.
Originally, the aim for the Dormaa-based club was to win two domestic trophies this season, but their recent quarter-final loss to King Faisal in the MTN FA Cup ended that dream, leaving the league title as their only shot at silverware.
Playing in Week 26 of the season, Aduana Stars hosted Great Olympics at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese following the temporal closure of the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa. The game was not a goal-fest but the hosts managed to score a crucial goal.
Frank Owusu scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute, allowing Aduana Stars to clinch the win over the struggling Great Olympics.
With the win, Aduana Stars have now extended their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League standings to six points.
