Abednego Tetteh, Abass Samari all with a brace as Bibiani GoldStars played out to a 2-2 stalemate with Accra Lions at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in the last fixture of GPL match-day 17 on Monday afternoon.

Coach James Francis named a usual line up with captain Dominic Nsobila, goalkeeper Andrews Owusu, Abass Samari, Apiiga, all included. Hagen Frimpong once again wasn't in the squad.

On the opposition end, Michael Osei headed into the game without his top two forwards; Laar Ibrahim and Prince Owusu Kwabena, giving him no option than to start Abednego Tetteh upfront. Farouk Adams, Noah Martey, Michael Enu all made the starting XI.

GoldStars looked really slow in the opening minutes as they always love to exchange passes among themselves with no any dangerous incursions whiles Accra Lions were always pushing more men in attack for the opener.

The homesters came so close to finding the back of the net on the 31st minute after Samari sets up Baba Apiiga just at the edge of the box but his effort went wide for a goalkick.

On the 36th minute, Noah Martey sent a long one from midfield towards the direction of goal after seeing the goalkeeper out of his line but Andrews Owusu managed to grab that one. That was close!

Back from recess, Abednego Tetteh scored with a brilliant header just from the break to hand Bibiani GoldStars the lead.

Dominic Nsobila sets up substitute Abdul Basit through with a decent pass in search for the leveller but Kalala came off his line quickly to collect the ball and ease the danger.

On the 58th minute, Accra Lions finally snatched the equalizer through Salifu Samari who headed into the net at a close range from Abdul Basit.

The homesters were given a penalty on the 67th minute after Issah Ibrahim was brought down in the box by Emmanuel Odai.

Abass Salifu Samari stepped up for it and scored to give his side the lead for the first time in the game.

Fast-forward, the Miners were also given a penalty on the 76th minute after Charles Kamara was stamped in the face in the box.

Abednego Tetteh took the responsibility upon himself and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to seal his brace and got his side back on level terms.

Stephen Owusu Banahene nearly snatched the winner after stealing from Amo Mensah to send a hit but was parried away by Andrews Owusu to a wasted corner kick.

It ended 2-2 after full time. GoldStars and Accra Lions all on 27 points now but will remain on the fifth and sixth positions respectively.
