A late penalty converted by Stephen Owusu ensured Bofoakwa Tano their first victory of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season against Real Tamale United (RTU) on Friday afternoon.
The two team opened the match-week of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League at the Sunyani Coronation Park when Bofoakwa Tano recorded a 2-1 home win over RTU.
Bofoakwa Tano commenced the fixture on a good note with an intense pressure on the visitors to unlock the back line of the Tamale based outfit.
Skipper Saaka Dauda opened the scoring for the home side with a stunning free-kick in the 14th minute when he struck the ball firmly into the back of the net.
RTU tried their lucks severally in the remaining minutes of the first half with the hopes of getting the equalizer but their efforts went futile as it ended in a 1-0 win for Bofoakwa Tano.
In the second half, Real Tamale United took over the possession to dominate the game and levelled the score on the hour-mark through Mohammed Hadri.
However, a late spot-kick awarded to Bofoakwa Tano was brilliantly converted by Stephen Owusu to hand the Premier League returnees all the three maximum points at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
