Karela United secured their first victory of the new league season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Berekum Chelsea 3-1.
The now Tamale-based club had started the season with a defeat to Legon Cities FC away from home the previous weekend.
Today, Karela United played host to Berekum Chelsea at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in a Week 2 encounter of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
The home team made an excellent start to the game, with Evans Adomako Wiredu scoring in the 19th minute to give them the lead. This goal ensured that Karela United entered halftime with a narrow advantage.
In the second half, Berekum Chelsea attempted a comeback but were unable to pose any significant threats.
Karela United extended their lead with a second goal from Evans Adomako Wiredu and a strike from George Amonoo, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea.
The only consolation goal for Berekum Chelsea was scored by Stephen Amankona.
