FC Samartex have moved up to the top of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League table after recording a resounding home win over Heart of Lions on Sunday afternoon.
The Timber Giants extended their unbeaten streak to five games following a 2-0 victory over Heart of Lions in their match-week 14 fixture at the Nsenkyire Stadium.
The visitors stood resolute in the first half by holding FC Samartex to a score-less draw despite the fearsome attack launched on them by the upfront of the host.
Two minutes after the break, Emmanuel Mamah pounced on Heart of Lions' goalkeeper's howler to give FC Samartex the lead.
The home side continued their impressive performance by piling an intense pressure on the back line of Heart of Lions to concede more goals in the remaining minutes of the game.
Winger Evans Osei-wusu brilliantly doubled their lead in the 78th minute of the game.
Heart of Lions failed to at least register a consolation goal despite the late golden opportunities that fell for their attackers as it ended in a 2-0 win for FC Samartex.
FC Samartex currently sits on top of the league log with 26 points after match-week 14 while Heart of Lions lies at the bottom with just 8 points .
